Dear all,

The following letters are the Unicode letters of Sourashtra. (A880 to A8D9). It was released in Unicode 5.1 set. To view this, you need to install the code2000 font. It is available in the site http://www.code2000.net/code2000_page.htm. We are having good number of letters, which is good for starting purpose we can write any thing with these letters. The special letters in the consonants (letters without vowel sound) are very good sound in our language which is yet to come.

Forgotton Words 1 - jani

amra vaththaam jukku vaakyamun ami hatvan (havdan) javallidriyaas. tye (tego) haalthi naayagi dEvun geethun mello amko aththO ivar podarani (lagarani/hOrani). tye (tego) sogan (sOn) sEththa vaakyamun okko okkoyogan siyangan meni ella harmbam kerariyo.

'jani' menaththa vaakyam naayagi dEvun geethum avaras. aththa ami tella vaakyam polkulnaaththak 'dhekki dhelli' meni menaraas. 'tella dhekki dheri sangi', 'dhekki dhethyo' sogan avarya thaamum aski 'tella jani sangi', 'jandthyo' meni ami piri ella vaakyam amra vaththam vavraththak harmbam kerath sokkat lagai.

நம் மொழியில் பயின்று வந்த பல சொற்களை நாம் இன்று மறந்துவிட்டோம். அதனால் சென்ற நூற்றாண்டில் வாழ்ந்த நம் நாயகி சுவாமிகளின் பாடல்களைக் கூட நம்மால் இப்போது புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. அப்படி மறந்து போன சொற்களை ஒவ்வொன்றாக ஒரு தொடராக இந்தப் பதிவில் இடலாம் என்று எண்ணியிருக்கிறேன்.

நம் சுவாமிகளின் பாடல்களில் வரும் அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு சொல் 'ஜனி' என்பது. அதற்குப் பதிலாக நாம் இப்போதெல்லாம் 'தெக்கி தெரத்தே' (கண்டுபிடிப்பது) என்று புழங்கத் தொடங்கிவிட்டோம். 'தெல்லே தெக்கி தெரி ஸங்கி', 'தெக்கி தெத்யோ' போன்ற இடங்களில் 'தெல்லே ஜனி ஸங்கி', 'ஜன்த்யோ' என்று புழங்கத் தொடங்கினால் நாம் மறந்த சொல்லை மீண்டும் புழக்கத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவரலாம்.

சுவாமிகளின் பாடல்களில் இந்த சொல் வரும் இடம் ஒன்று எடுத்துக்காட்டிற்காக: லொனி ஜனி சொரி கயெ தேவ் யேலா!

We have forgotton a lot of words in our language. So, we cannot understand even the songs of Sriman Nayagi Swamigal. Wanted to start a series in which we can see these forgotton words one by one.

'jani' is one such words that we see in Nayagi Swamigal's songs. Nowadays we use 'dhekki dhelli (find)' instead of 'jani'. Instead of saying 'tella dhekki dheri sangi (Find it and tell)', 'dhekki dheththyo (Found it)', we can say 'tella jani sangi', 'jandthyo'.
